Writing a Song Name in an Essay - Part 2
Writing a Song Name in an Essay - Part 2My article on writing a song name in an essay proved very useful to me and I wanted to take a moment to share my insights with you. The overall theme of the article was about how the lyrics to a song can be used in essays. The last time I did this, I found that in many cases, my essay was given the upper hand over my essay. This is what happened. A fellow student told me that he loved our essay topic and it was very persuasive. We chatted for a while and he mentioned that he was a songwriter. He claimed that he had written several popular songs for musicians.Going back to my essay, I made sure to get into some of the best music that I knew about. The music spoke loudly to me and I loved it. The writer was no doubt the star of my essay. Now, I love to write a song in an essay. I want to share my insights with you.So my conclusion is that it's important to be prepared when starting to write a song name in an essay. My advice would be to go out and do some research about your topic and then build from there. Take notes throughout the process. It would be a good idea to copy the music to a flash drive or some other media to keep it safe. One thing that I suggest is to use your music as an aid to make sure that you are following the correct form. I would always start by trying to see if you can write it as a song instead of writing an essay. If you find yourself having trouble with the overall structure and the structure of the words, then you probably need to rethink your approach. But my final thought is that you should try not to rely on MLA style MLA. You can still use a lot of it in your essay but use it sparingly. I like to use the classic form of MLA and I am comfortable with it. My next post will discuss that. The overall idea of the article was to help you find ways to make the words of your essay sing. Take this as a challenge. Use the tools available to help you write a song name in an essay.
Sonnyââ¬â¢s Blues Essay Example
Sonnyââ¬â¢s Blues Paper James Baldwinââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Sonnyââ¬â¢s Bluesâ⬠describe the middle of the 20th century. The author refers to the period prior to the Civil Rights Movement ââ¬â in particular, to the dark days of segregation and racial discrimination. I think the author chose those times because he grew in Harlem and wanted to make people aware of that life. Sonny, as well as the narrator, grew up in poor neighborhood of Harlem. Sonny was the son of working class father whose optimism was put down by the death of his brother at the hands of the rural Southern whites. The story shows ensuing struggle of the family in the racist Northern community. The narrator is the teacher of Algebra and Sonny is a child disappointed in life and, therefore, addicted to drug use. The narrator suspects that his students ââ¬Å"are popping off needles every time they went to the head and maybe it did more for them than algebra couldââ¬Å". Apparently, the author refers to drug abuse as the way to escape from the burden of reality, from racial discrimination and oppression. The story is very dramatic and we see that characters are changing with storyââ¬â¢s progression. Character changes are subtle because the plot features a characterââ¬â¢s battle with heroin addiction. It is necessary to outline that this story teaches readers to understand peopleââ¬â¢s bad experiences and suffering. Nevertheless, the story is not simply ââ¬â it depicts complex inner world of a boy who struggle with drug addiction. Music remains the only source to express pain. For Sonny, blues music is catalyst for changes. Music helps the narrator to understand himself and complex relations with Sonny. Baldwin raises the theme of brotherhood and claims that the story implies that we are ââ¬Å"our brotherââ¬â¢s keepersâ⬠. Baldwin stresses that brotherly support is more than control and coercion. Summing up, the story is about the struggle of darkness and light, of good and evil in humans. References Baldwin, James.(2002). Sonnyââ¬â¢s Blues. Oxford: Oxford University Press.

European Exploration of Africa
European Exploration of Africa Europeans have been interested in African geography since the time of the Greek and Roman Empires.à Around 150 C.E., Ptolemy created a map of the world that included the Nile and the great lakes of East Africa.à In the Middle Ages, the large Ottoman Empire blocked European access to Africa and its trade goods, but Europeans still learned about Africa from Islamic maps and travelers, like Ibn Battuta. The Catalan Atlas created in 1375, which includes many African coastal cities, the Nile River, and other political and geographical features, shows how much Europe knew about North and West Africa. Portuguese Exploration By the 1400s, Portuguese sailors, backed by Prince Henry the Navigator, began exploring the West coast of Africa looking for a mythical Christian king named Prester John and a way to the wealth of Asia that avoided the Ottomans and the powerful empires of South West Asia.à By 1488, the Portuguese had charted a way around the South African Cape and in 1498, Vasco da Gama reached Mombasa, in what is today Kenya, where he encountered Chinese and Indian merchants. Europeans made few inroads into Africa, though, until the 1800s, due to the strong African states they encountered, tropical diseases, and a relative lack of interest. Europeans instead grew rich trading gold, gum, ivory, and slaves with coastal merchants.à Science, Imperialism, and the Quest for the Nile In the late 1700s, a group of British men, inspired by the Enlightenment ideal of learning, decided that Europe should know much more about Africa. They formed the African Association in 1788 to sponsor expeditions to the continent.à With the abolition of the trans-Atlantic slave trade in 1808, European interest in the interior of Africa grew quickly.à Geographical Societies were formed and sponsored expeditions. The Parisian Geographical Society offered a 10,000 franc prize to the first explorer who could reach the town of Timbuktu (in present-day Mali) and return alive. The new scientific interest in Africa was never wholly philanthropic, however. Financial and political support for exploration grew out of the desire for wealth and national power. Timbuktu, for instance, was believed to be rich in gold.à By the 1850s, interest in African exploration had become an international race, much like the Space Race between the U.S. and U.S.S.R in the 20th century.à Explorers like David Livingstone, Henry M. Stanley, and Heinrich Barth became national heroes, and the stakes were high. A public debate between Richard Burton and John H. Speke over the source of the Nile led to the suspected suicide of Speke, who was later proven correct.à Explorersââ¬â¢ travels also helped pave the way for European conquest, but the explorers themselves had little to no power in Africa for much of the century. They were deeply dependent on the African men they hired and the assistance of African kings and rulers, who were often interested in acquiring new allies and new markets.à European Madness and African Knowledge Explorers accounts of their travels downplayed the assistance they received from African guides, leaders, and even slave traders. They also presented themselves as calm, cool, and collected leaders masterfully directing their porters across unknown lands.à The reality was that they were often following existing routes and, as Johann Fabian showed, were disoriented by fevers, drugs, and cultural encounters that went against everything they expected to find in so-called savage Africa.à Readers and historians believed explorers accounts, though, and it was not until recent years that people began to recognize the critical role that Africans and African knowledge played in the exploration of Africa. Paul's Letters on Christ's Death Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Paul's Letters on Christ's Death - Essay Example (New American Bible, p. 300). While the nucleus of the community was Jewish, Paulââ¬â¢s affinity with the Greek-Roman culture would contribute to his success in converting gentiles to the new religious faith. (Jerusalem Bible, p. 251). In time, this Christian community would be recognized as being the first Christian community in Europe. (New American Bible, p. 300). At this instance, Paul has sent them a spiritual message while warning them against Jewish teachers, who have caused jealousies and rivalries. Paul was firm on his principle: These teachers are ââ¬Å"enemies of the cross of Christâ⬠(Phi: 3-18). He would also stress that beyond ritualistic practices, what is important is their being favored to believe in Christ. Then he pleads for unity and humility, even as Christ, he says, ââ¬Å"humbled himself, becoming obedient to deathâ⬠(Phi: 3-8). In the end, he asks for their being true, honorable, just, and pure living in order to earn Godââ¬â¢s peace while awa iting the return of the Risen Savior. First Letter to Corinthians At about the year 51 CE, Paul organized a Christian community in Corinth among the cityââ¬â¢s poor and underprivileged. (New American Bible, p. 242). ... Also, it is only one Christ from whom is drawn righteousness, sanctification and redemption (Cor.: 2-30). The long letter contains advice on problems in Christian practices. It also contains the famous teaching on love, the greatest of all virtues. On a key portion of his message about the resurrection, Paul stresses that ââ¬Å"if Christ is raised from the dead. . . there is resurrection of the deadâ⬠(Cor.:15-12). Clearly for St. Paul, Christââ¬â¢s death is the key to the new life and victory over the sting of death caused by Adam (Cor.: 15-53). Second Letter to Corinthians More problems arose in the Church at Corinth, and in his second letter Paul asserts his authority as an apostle. He argues for his position by revealing his personal conviction that the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus should be the pattern for all Christian life (p. 265). Using figurative language, Paul expresses his thanks to God for the experience of triumph in Christian living made evident, he says ââ¬Å"through the aroma of Christ for God among those being saved, and among those perishing, the latter an odor of death that leads to death, the former an odor of life that leads to lifeâ⬠(2 Cor.: 2-15). Again in figurative language, Paul alludes to his ministering a new covenant of the spirit, as a contrast to the old covenant of death. In his own words: ââ¬Å"Now if the ministry of death, carved in letters on stone, was so glorious that the Israelites could not look intently at the face of Moses because of its glory that was going to fade, how much more will the ministry of the Spirit be glorious? For if the ministry of condemnation was glorious, the ministry of righteousness will abound much more in gloryâ⬠(2 Cor.: 3-7). In the second letter to the Corinthians, it is
