I Would Like To Identify And Describe The Major Functions

I would like to identify and describe the major functions of the four agencies within the Department of Justice. I would like to start with the Bureau of Corrections. I chose this one first, because I work for the Department of Corrections. The Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) or BOP is a United States federal law enforcement agency. A sector of the U.S. Department of Justice, the BOP is responsible for the administration of the federal prison system such as white collar crimes, bank robberies, fraudulent check writing basically any crime associated with breaking federal law. The system handles inmates who have violated, or have been accused of violating, federal law. This includes enforcement of the Controlled Substance Act or CSA, which is the main federal drug policy under which the manufacture, importation, possession, use and distribution of certain substances is regulated. Through the enforcement of our nation s federal anti-drug laws, the DEA investigates and precludes drug dealers, drug-distributing gangs, drug trafficking enterprises drug manufacturers. Drug operations within the U.S., and also international drug operations when those operations affect or infiltrate the United States. For example, DEA agents work closely with Border Patrol and Customs Enforcement agents in order to intercept illegal drugs being brought into the U.S. When you work with the Drug Enforcement Administration this means that you are dedicated to the eliminating and preventing future drug trafficking and illegal activity from entering the United States of America. This is why most DEA agents take the oath when taking the job.
